Directional Bore

What is Directional Boring?

Directional Boring, also known as Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), has become the common method of underground utility installation. HDD is a guidable and traceable trenchless method for the installation of various underground communications and power cable conduits, water lines, sewer lines, gas and oil lines. Directional boring is now the preferred method on many installations due to its low impact on surroundings.

Directional Boring

Directional Boring is often used where open cut installations are not feasible, if not impossible. The main use is for making crossings under rivers, roads, driveways, existing structures, congested areas, and environmentally sensitive areas with the purpose of installing or replacing existing pipes and conduits. This method provides less traffic disruption, lower cost, deeper and/or longer installation, directional capabilities, and environmental safety at a comparable rapid rate. Pipe which can be used for directional boring installations includes HDPE, mechanical joint PVC and steel.

For the home or business owner with an existing structure, horizontal drilling eliminates the undesirable eyesore of massive trench digging and soil disturbance. It also eliminates the need to disturb existing asphalt or landscaping therefore reducing reclamation costs.

Ranging from new construction to repairs of existing mains, we have worked on a variety of projects and we aim to get the job done fast and precise. Our certified HDPE pipe crews have the expertise to install underground utilities which include:

– Water lines
-Sewer lines/Pressure & Gravity
– Gas lines
– Oil lines
– Communications and Power cable conduits

We look forward to discussing, and bidding, any potential horizontal directional drilling projects you may require.
